New On-Board Aircraft Health Monitoring System Takes Flight on F-15: TRI/Austin, Inc. is Developing a New System That Can Monitor
In 2003, the Army awarded an SBIR Phase II contract for $729,888 to TRI/Austin to develop a diagnostic/prognostic system that could monitor aircraft and rotorcraft structural components in flight. Phase II focused on ruggedizing the system, optimizing performance, reducing power draw, refining the prognostic/diagnostic algorithms and building a system for test. The effort culminated in a successful flight test of the LAHMP system aboard the F-15.
OC Robotics Snake-Arm Robots Steer Aircraft Assembly in a New Direction
OC Robotics has achieved the first major milestone for a snake-arm robot designed for assembly and inspection tasks within aircraft wings – an area previously inaccessible to automation. OC Robotics has completed build and initial testing of a demonstration snake-arm robot capable of sealing, swaging and inspection inside a mock-up of a rib bay. RFT Systems (Aerospace) Limited Announce the Start of a "Study of Studies" into Aircraft Cabin Air Quality

Castle Douglas, Scotland (PRWEB) May 30, 2008 -- RFT Systems (Aerospace) Limited today announced the start of an internally funded "Study of Studies" into aircraft Cabin Air Quality.
The recent publicity surrounding this subject has led to much speculation in the press regarding the causes of poor quality cabin environments.
The aim of the study is to gather all relevant published data and examine it on an independent basis. This will help to determine whether a solution can be found within the published works or whether further work will be necessary.
It is envisaged that the "Study of Studies" will last for a period of approximately 12 months, with RFT Systems making interim progress reports available to interested parties on a quarterly basis.
